Blackstone's Biography

Welcome!  My name is Brennan Blackstone and I am currently teaching a 3/4 at Foust Elementary School.  This is my seventh year teaching, I taught 3rd grade my first semester and I have been teaching 4th grade reading and writing ever since!  I attended Indiana University for three years of my undergraduate program, and then transferred to Brescia University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  I am currently attending Brescia University, working on my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.

I was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky and am one of four girls!  I have two older sisters that live in Chicago and a twin sister who lives in Maryland.  In my spare time I enjoy traveling to Chicago to visit my niece, Courtland, and my nephew, Enzo.  I have not yet traveled to Maryland to visit my other niece, Hadley, but look forward to taking that adventure this summer.

Some of the hobbies I enjoy are scrapbooking, traveling, reading and spending time with my friends and family.  Much of spare time is dedicated to reading novels by my favorite authors Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Weiner.  I recently finished reading the Twilight series, and often spend time finding and reading books that my students will enjoy.  Most recently I read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and look forward to sharing this book with my class.

I enjoy living in Owensboro, Kentucky and working at Foust Elementary.  I look forward to continuing my work and making differences in children’s lives!

Don't forget, we're taking a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts on March 22. You won't need to bring a lunch, but you must have your permission slip signed and with you when you get on the bus.

Assignment 4 is not due until April 3 (instead of March 31).

Here I might mention a story in the news that pertains to my subject and solicit opinions from the class. Or I might ask a question about material we covered in class, for example:

This week we read a great short story. If you could be any of the characters in this story, which would you be and why?

I'll post the answers on the "Class Bulletin Board" page.

Meet the Challenge!

Here, I might put a weekly brain teaser, for example:

Three less than 4 times a number is greater than 4 times the sum of the number and 1. Find all such numbers.

Last week's answer: 4
Last week's winner: Brad
